The Santa Fe Model Railroad Club is a non-profit organization that promotes a general interest in trains and the hobby of model railroading, "the world's greatest hobby". Members model several different scales and specialties, including narrow-gauge trains. The club supports 4-H in Santa Fe and invites the public to view a number of modular model railroad layouts at the County Fairgrounds in October with all donations going to 4-H. In November, during Model Railroad month, individual members of the club have their layouts open for public viewing.  At Christmas time, holiday trains,  (O-scale, 1:48), in the lobby of the First National Bank on the Santa Fe Plaza are operated and maintained by volunteer members of the Santa Fe Club.

The Santa Fe Model Railroad Club (SFMRRC) holds meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.  The meetings, which are open to any interested person, are informal, casual, and unstructured in members' homes.  A monthly newsletter keeps members current with club activities, interests and schedules of meetings and events.  SFMRRC is an entirely volunteer organization.  All club activities are organized and carried out by individual members.
